WHY "Fowl Mouth"? Well, ducks are waterfowl and I love educating people about ducks! Proper care, proper nutrition, meeting their needs, etc. So, my mouth is constantly talking about fowl. Thats how the name was born! Not because I have a FOUL mouth but because I have a FOWL mouth!
But WHY Ducks?
Well, on a cold, crisp November day, in the middle of the pandemic, my husband and I went to a lake to fish. While walking around the lake we noticed a small yellow duck following us. With no feathers and still fuzzy we immediately realized it was a baby. Now, we all know wild ducks don't follow people unless they have food. This was not the case. We were fishing so we weren't feeding any ducks so why was it following us?
I scooped him out of the frigid water and held him close to keep him warm. This duck was alone! We looked around the lake and tried to find a mama duck thinking he was just separated from his group. There was not another duck in sight and this duck was too friendly to be wild. We assumed someone abandoned him there to fend for himself so we decided to take him home. We named him Nibbles!
If you have animals, especially farm animals like chickens, ducks, geese, etc. you know they need friends. So we found a local farmer who had some baby ducks to keep our Nibbles company. Well... one turned into two, two turned into 5 and well, you can see where this is going.
They became my main focus in a time where we weren't allowed to go anywhere or do anything due to lockdowns. Such a blessing really!
Currently we have 25 ducks! I take in ducks that need new homes and find new homes for some of them. I also sell their fertile eggs to help manage the cost of living for them. All duck related items sold from my shop help support the ducks and keep them fed and happy!
